“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise will be in my mouth continuously. My soul will glorify the Lord; the humble will hear about it and rejoice. Magnify the Lord with me! Let us lift up His name together! I sought the Lord and He answered me; He delivered me from all of my fears. Look to Him and be radiant; and you will not be ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard and delivered Him from all of His distress. The angel of the Lord surrounds those who fear Him, and He delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good! How blessed is the person who trusts in Him! Fear the Lord, you holy ones of His; for those who fear Him lack nothing” (Psalm 34).

God says, “I called you, I guided you to myself.” (Based on Hosea 11:4). Of course God calls only those who give Him their hearts. We do this first step, opening our hearts to the voice of God. You wanted God and He brought you to himself because He knew He needed you. Just how did He call you? You searched for Him and He let you find Him. In the Epistle to the Romans (10:20), it is written, “And Isaiah boldly says – I was found by those who were not looking for me; I was revealed to those who were not asking for me.” If I had asked you how it was that you were studying the Word of God, perhaps you would have answered: I was searching, I wanted God, and He allowed himself to be found. That’s what Isaiah says, that’s what all Scripture says. “You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). It is also written: “I was revealed to those who were not asking for me” (Romans 10:20). It may also happen that some of us do not ask about God, do not seek Him, but God finds us at some point in our life. This happens especially to those for whom others pray. Pray for your brothers and sisters. God also knows what’s in your heart, has come to you and He first let you know Him. Perhaps you subconsciously wanted God and He has found you. Do you realize it? Are you grateful to God that He has drawn You to Himself? This is amazing, God gives you the opportunity to spend an incredible vacation, endless holiday, wants to take you to the “paradise island” where there is no suffering, no pain – and yet so few people want to respond to this invitation. Everyone has the opportunity to check it out, you too.

Have you wondered how many life chances you will be given? In a computer game we have several so-called “lives”. You can die once, you can die the second time and only after the third time you really die. And how many lives do you have? You have one life here on Earth. This is where everything is set and all your decisions are made, including the one whether you want to live forever, close to God or not. In fact, it is here that everything is actually happening on Earth. Everybody living on Earth will someday die. All of us will then be resurrected to hear the summary of our lives, and some will live on, in reward, in much better conditions, and others will be resurrected, but to die forever, because the infernal fire will consume them. Your task today is to realize who or what should be most important to you? What should be the highest priority for you here on earth? If you know that you are going to die soon and then you will be resurrected and you think of those endless heavenly holidays and that God has prepared eternal life for you, then answer the question: what on Earth should be the most important for you? Each one of us has many life priorities. For some, these are children, for others it is work, school, wealth, money or achieving riches, and for some it is most important who wins the European championship in football. What should be the most important for you? Actually, what should be the most important for all people? What should we do on Earth that is quite important to receive eternal life? There is only one answer: “Have a relationship with Jesus.”

This is not a thing you can buy, it can’t be earned. What you can do and what you can try is to maintain the best relationship with God. Look at this situation just like true friendship. A real friend will always help you, especially when you are also caring for this friendship. Then you can always count on him. The friendship with Jesus is similar. If you come to Him and even make mistakes, because mistakes will always be made, Jesus will never turn away from you unless you turn away from Him. It is most important to have the best relationship with Him. That is the basic principle. God will take us to himself if we are truly His children. If you turn away from God, will He take you to himself when the end of the world comes? When you turn your back on God, when Jesus comes in the clouds, in glory and sends the angels for us, will an angel also come to meet you? Unfortunately not.

Of course you will sin many times in your lifetime. That is human nature. Every one of us from time to time falls. There is, however, a difference between falling and staying in sin and it is important to distinguish it, because staying in sin is a permanent turning away from God. If you are in sin then you turn away from God. You say: I can handle myself, God I do not want your help, I have my rules. Can you then become a friend of Jesus? Assuming you already know the truth, you know how you should behave, and at the same time you continually break God’s rules, you cannot count on salvation. Perhaps you will say: This is not the right time for me, I understand that you are expecting me to make some decisions today, but I am not ready. In such a situation you lose any chance of eternal life.

The situation is different if you are in connection with God, and even if you fall, then you always stand up, apologize, and go on. This is what distinguishes the children of God from those who are not them. The one who is not a child of God when he sins – he does not apologize. He does not feel guilty, he does not feel remorse. He does not distinguish good from evil. The child of God, when causing some mischief, will always go with humility to his father and apologize: “Dad, I’m sorry, I would like you to forgive me, I would like this love to continue, I would like to be with you, will you forgive me?”

In Proverbs 3:5-6 it is written, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” However, man relies on his own understanding anyway. Scripture asks: How often do you think you are the wisest? Do you know the best way to organize your life? You have free will, God has given it to you because He wanted you to come to Him out of love. I personally would prefer that God would make decisions for me. I would like everything to happen according to His script. Because my choices are usually bad. Wrong. However, I am to direct myself to live according to the principles that God expects of me. God will not do it for me, that is free will.

What is your faith like? What is your life like? You say to God that you want to be with Him, you want to be His child, and yet you are putting aside the rules He made, because they are uncomfortable? Today your life may look like that of those who are far away from God. Why? Because it is difficult for you to live in accordance with the will of God. The world behaves differently, you would have to stand out, you would have to face the world, you would have to look your closest into the eyes and say no, it does not fit me, because you Lord expect something else from me. To be saved means to follow Jesus, learn to make the right decisions and deny everything that is bad in this world.

In Luke’s Gospel (10:25), it is written: “Just then an expert in the Law stood up to test Jesus. He asked – Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Have you ever asked such a question to God? Jesus answered the disciple: “What is written in the Law?” We can discuss over what must be done to be saved. Jesus, however, answers directly: “What is written?” So why are you asking me? How many more times will you ask me? It is written to be faithful to God and enough! Show that you live according to the will of God. From this begins the process of conversion. Conversion is a relationship with God and the introduction of all the rules set in the Scriptures in your life, because of the love we have towards Jesus. This is the first stage, and the second is to establish a genuine bond with God, a friendly one – such as there is between a son and a father. This is exactly what true conversion is.

“Jesus answered him – What is written in the Law? What do you read there? – He answered – You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. And you must love your neighbour as yourself. – Jesus told him – You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live” (Luke 10:26-28). To be saved, you need to establish a bond, build a relationship with God, and trust Him fully, whatever happens, even if it is does not fit you. This is what love towards God is – that you will love the Lord with all your heart. Elsewhere, it is written: “I tell all of you with certainty, whoever doesn’t receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it” (Mark 10:15). What does it mean to receive the kingdom as a child? Just not to discuss, just trust and implement it into your life.

“Then an official asked Jesus – Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? – Why do you call me good? – Jesus asked him. – Nobody is good except for one – God. You know the commandments: Never commit adultery. Never murder. Never steal. Never give false testimony. Honour your father and mother” (Luke 18:18-20). He pointed to all the commandments. The disciple asked Him, and He said to him: adopt these rules into your life. We know sometimes it is difficult, especially if there is no relationship with God. The introduction of the rules alone will not do anything, because then you start obeying just to collect points. You will love your parents to be saved. You will not steal to be saved. You will not crave to be saved. This is not a proper relationship with God. All of this is supposed to be done not for God, but because we love God. First you need to trust God and love Him with all your heart, as it is written “you shall love”, and these rules will be lived out in your conduct. “But the official did not understand Him, and said, “I have kept all of these since I was a young man” (Luke 18:21). Jesus, however, knew what really prevented that young man from having a true relationship with God, and therefore replied to him, “You still need to do one thing. Sell everything you have and give the money to the destitute, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come back and follow me. – But when the official heard this he became sad, because he was very rich” (Luke 18:23). How is it in your case? Maybe you are not rich, you do not have to get rid of your property and sell everything because it was not really what Jesus was thinking. He meant that we should cease our life plans and pursuit of goals that contradict the Scriptures and the expectations of God. If God says: Take care of your life, but you are drawn to cigarettes, alcohol or drugs, then by these words He means: drop it, put it aside. If God says: I will bless you, but on the seventh day of the week come and worship me, and you say no, it is no wonder that the blessing of God is not reaching you. Give up your life as it is, and then you will have an incredible relationship with God, an incredible friendship, and God will open the valves of blessings, they will fall on you, you will not have the problems you have at the moment. “You still need to do one thing” (Luke 18:22). What do you need to do today? Answer yourself now, what’s hindering you from getting in touch with God?
